![]() ![]() I've seen one, maybe two javelins but never six. Oh and let us not forget living men running around with 6 javelins lodged in their jaws because the HP threshold for that model to die hasn't been reached. So an arrow or javelin or whatever definitely does hit the soldier in the face first and they don't "randomly shoot blood out of their eyes" from an arrow hitting their shield. That definitely never happens since incidental blood spurts always occur at points of contact. Shielded units taking arrows to the center of their shields and randomly shooting blood out of their eyes because of an invisible HP threshhold doesn't simulate anything approaching realism. If they did, there would be complaints of clipping and blobbing since units would now be too close to each other. Well yeah, that what happens when you want soldiers ganging up - not all the hits are gonna look like they make contact. It's funny how unmatched combat was implemented out of demand, and now there are complaints that units die "randomly" from strikes coming from elsewhere. Watching units randomly fall dead from strikes 2 feet to the left So every successful hit with an arrow would be fatal, but balanced by the fact that the majority of hits would be blocked by the shield or armor. I mean, you could just increase missile non-ap damage to be about the same as a normal soldier's health, then raise shield block chance as well. ![]() If you rested them long enough, your "wounded" soldiers somehow made miraculous full recoveries on the battlefield? You could have fresh soldiers and fatigued soldiers in the old system, you can have fresh non-wounded soldiers, fresh wounded soldiers, fatigued non-wounded soldiers, and fatigued wounded soldiers in the new system, with all the different stat penalties each of those states would apply.Īs is stands, you have the silliness of waves of arrows killing almost no one, but injuring everyone proportionately. So functionally, he is still completely healthy even if he took 15 hits, which all happened to be non-fatal due to "probability."Īnd stats fell as the battle went on, so later, tired units would be more likely to dieīut that doesn't simulate wounded soldiers either. Presumably some of the "non kill" attacks were landing a blow, but not killing.īut that still wouldn't come close to simulating or approximating wounds since your soldier would still be at his full 1 hp. The HP system, while not perfect, allows you to simulate combat and weaponry with much more depth. A successful hit with a dagger shouldn't be as damaging as one with a greatsword. You had probabilities of hitting, but every successful hit was fatal. Right, but probabilities took that in to account. Either way, underneath that plate the soldier would be wearing another layer or two of armor and likely wouldn't feel anything. Hardened steel wouldn't even dent from a longbow. This thing buckled like aluminum foil when hit by an arrow. Just as another example, I tried hammering a dent out of high carbon steel for about 20 minutes and ended up breaking the hammer without touching the dent. True hardened steel like a knight would wear can get up to the 600 vph range, and you'd have a better chance getting lightning to strike him than trying to kill him with an arrow through the chest wearing armor that hard. This looks like mild steel (low carbon) of about ~150 vph, which is basically inferior to bronze in hardness. As someone who used to work with people who did this crap for a living, this video isn't worth the time it took to watch.įirst thing you should do is check if they list the thickness and carbon content of the breastplate, which they don't.
